What is Tambocor?

Tambocor is a brand name medication that contains the active ingredient flecainide acetate. It is a type of antiarrhythmic medication that is commonly used in veterinary medicine to treat certain heart rhythm disorders in animals. These disorders may include ventricular arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, and other irregular heartbeats. Animals may need Tambocor if they have been diagnosed with a specific heart condition that causes abnormal heart rhythms. Your veterinarian may prescribe Tambocor to help regulate the heart's electrical activity and prevent potentially dangerous arrhythmias. It is important to follow your veterinarian's instructions carefully when administering Tambocor to your pet, as dosage and frequency may vary depending on the individual animal's condition.

What problems could my pet have with Tambocor?

While Tambocor can be an effective medication for treating certain heart rhythm disorders in animals, there are potential side effects and risks associated with its use. Some common problems that pets may experience while taking Tambocor include: 1. **Worsening of Arrhythmias**: In some cases, Tambocor may actually worsen certain types of arrhythmias or cause new arrhythmias to develop. It is important to monitor your pet closely for any changes in their heart rhythm while on this medication. 2. **Gastrointestinal Upset**: Pets may experience digestive issues such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite while taking Tambocor. If these symptoms persist or worsen, contact your veterinarian. 3. **Weakness or Lethargy**: Some animals may exhibit signs of weakness, fatigue, or lethargy while on Tambocor. If your pet seems unusually tired or lacks energy, consult your veterinarian. 4. **Allergic Reactions**: In rare cases, pets may have an allergic reaction to Tambocor, which can manifest as itching, hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing. Seek immediate veterinary attention if you suspect your pet is having an allergic reaction. 5. **Liver or Kidney Issues**: Tambocor can potentially affect liver or kidney function in some animals. Your veterinarian may recommend regular blood tests to monitor these organ functions while your pet is on this medication. It is essential to communicate any concerns or observations regarding your pet's health to your veterinarian promptly. They can provide guidance on managing any potential problems that may arise while your pet is taking Tambocor.

Is there anything I need to know about administering Tambocor?

When administering Tambocor to your pet, it is crucial to follow your veterinarian's instructions precisely. Here are some key points to keep in mind: 1. **Dosage**: Administer the medication exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian. Do not adjust the dosage unless instructed to do so by your vet. 2. **Administration**: Tambocor is typically given orally in the form of tablets or capsules. Make sure to give the medication with food unless otherwise directed by your veterinarian. 3. **Monitoring**: Keep a close eye on your pet while they are on Tambocor. Watch for any changes in their behavior, appetite, energy levels, or heart rhythm. 4. **Consistency**: Try to administer Tambocor at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of the medication in your pet's system. 5. **Missed Doses**: If you forget to give a dose, contact your veterinarian for guidance. Do not double up on doses unless specifically advised to do so. 6. **Storage**: Store Tambocor in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and pets. 7. **Follow-up**: Attend all follow-up appointments with your veterinarian to monitor your pet's response to Tambocor and address any concerns or side effects. If you have any questions or uncertainties about administering Tambocor to your pet, do not hesitate to reach out to your veterinarian for clarification and guidance. Your pet's health and well-being are of utmost importance, and your veterinarian is there to support you throughout the treatment process.

Important information to know when ordering prescription medicines

A prescription is required from your veterinarian before we can supply this product.

If this is a new prescription, to enable immediate dispensing, please ask the vet to send a copy of the prescription to us prior to mailing it.

If the original prescription is in your possession, then please upload this to your pet's profile in VetRx prior to mailing it.

Please note that we must receive either a copy of the prescription from the vet, or the original prescription before we can dispatch your order. This does unfortunately add to the order processing time, however this is a requirement placed upon all pharmacies by the Health Regulators.

How Much Does Shipping Cost?

Small orders (less than 500g) cost $9.90 to be delivered anywhere in Australia. For larger orders, shipping costs are calculated on distance and weight (leaving Sydney) and an exact price can be obtained in the shopping cart prior to checkout.

The weight limit for Australia Post is 22kg and orders that weigh more than this cannot be shipped. We recommend placing multiple smaller orders to work around this problem.
