What is Propalin?

Propalin is a medication commonly prescribed for dogs to help manage urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence is a condition where a dog is unable to control their bladder, leading to involuntary leakage of urine. This can be caused by various factors such as hormonal imbalances, weakened bladder muscles, or neurological issues. Propalin works by tightening the muscles around the urethra, helping to improve bladder control and reduce urine leakage. It is often prescribed by veterinarians to help improve the quality of life for dogs suffering from urinary incontinence.

What problems could my pet have with Propalin?

While Propalin is generally considered safe and effective for managing urinary incontinence in dogs, there are some potential side effects and considerations to be aware of. Some dogs may experience mild side effects such as gastrointestinal upset, including vomiting or diarrhea. In rare cases, more serious side effects such as restlessness, tremors, or rapid heart rate may occur. It's important to follow your veterinarian's instructions carefully when administering Propalin to your pet. Dosage adjustments may be necessary based on your dog's individual response to the medication. Additionally, Propalin should not be used in dogs with a known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or in dogs with certain medical conditions such as heart disease or hypertension. If you notice any concerning symptoms or changes in your dog's behavior while they are taking Propalin, it's important to contact your veterinarian promptly. They can provide guidance on how to proceed and may recommend adjustments to the treatment plan if needed.

Is there anything I need to know about administering Propalin?

When administering Propalin to your dog, it's important to follow your veterinarian's instructions carefully. Here are some key points to keep in mind: 1. **Dosage**: Administer the medication exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian. Do not adjust the dosage without consulting your vet first. 2. **Administration**: Propalin is typically available in liquid form and is usually given orally. Use a syringe or dropper to measure the correct dose and administer it directly into your dog's mouth. 3. **Consistency**: Try to give the medication at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level in your dog's system. 4. **Monitoring**: Keep an eye on your dog for any changes in behavior or symptoms while they are taking Propalin. If you notice anything concerning, contact your veterinarian promptly. 5. **Storage**: Store Propalin as directed on the packaging. Typically, it should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. 6. **Missed Dose**: If you forget to give your dog a dose, give it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not double up on doses. 7. **Duration**: Continue giving Propalin to your dog for the full duration prescribed by your veterinarian, even if you start to see improvements in their condition. By following these guidelines and staying in close communication with your veterinarian, you can help ensure the safe and effective administration of Propalin to your dog.

Important information to know when ordering prescription medicines

A prescription is required from your veterinarian before we can supply this product.

If this is a new prescription, to enable immediate dispensing, please ask the vet to send a copy of the prescription to us prior to mailing it.

If the original prescription is in your possession, then please upload this to your pet's profile in VetRx prior to mailing it.

Please note that we must receive either a copy of the prescription from the vet, or the original prescription before we can dispatch your order. This does unfortunately add to the order processing time, however this is a requirement placed upon all pharmacies by the Health Regulators.
