What is OSURNIA?

OSURNIA is a veterinary medication used to treat ear infections in dogs. It is a prescription ear gel that contains three active ingredients - terbinafine, florfenicol, and betamethasone acetate. These ingredients work together to effectively treat bacterial and fungal ear infections, as well as reduce inflammation and pain in the ear. Animals may need OSURNIA if they are suffering from otitis externa, which is a common condition in dogs characterized by inflammation or infection of the outer ear canal. Symptoms of otitis externa include ear redness, swelling, discharge, odor, and discomfort. If left untreated, ear infections can lead to more serious complications and discomfort for the animal. OSURNIA is a convenient and effective treatment option for pet owners to help alleviate their pet's ear infection symptoms and improve their overall ear health. It is important to consult with a veterinarian before using OSURNIA to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment for your pet's specific condition.

What problems could my pet have with OSURNIA?

While OSURNIA is generally considered safe and effective when used as directed by a veterinarian, there are some potential issues or side effects that pet owners should be aware of. Some common problems that may arise with the use of OSURNIA include: 1. Allergic reactions: Some pets may be sensitive or allergic to one or more of the active ingredients in OSURNIA. Signs of an allergic reaction may include itching, redness, swelling, or hives. If your pet shows any signs of an allergic reaction after using OSURNIA, discontinue use and contact your veterinarian immediately. 2. Irritation or discomfort: In some cases, pets may experience mild irritation or discomfort in the ear after application of OSURNIA. This can manifest as increased scratching or head shaking. If your pet appears to be in distress or discomfort, consult with your veterinarian for guidance. 3. Resistance or lack of effectiveness: While OSURNIA is designed to effectively treat bacterial and fungal ear infections, there is a possibility that some infections may be resistant to the medication or that the treatment may not be fully effective. If you do not see improvement in your pet's condition after using OSURNIA as directed, consult with your veterinarian for further evaluation and potential alternative treatment options. 4. Incorrect use: It is important to follow the instructions provided by your veterinarian for the proper administration of OSURNIA. Using the medication incorrectly, such as applying the wrong dosage or not completing the full course of treatment, can lead to treatment failure or potential complications. If you have any concerns or notice any unusual symptoms in your pet while using OSURNIA, it is important to contact your veterinarian for guidance and advice. Your veterinarian can provide personalized recommendations based on your pet's specific condition and response to treatment.

Is there anything I need to know about administering OSURNIA?

Administering OSURNIA properly is crucial to ensure its effectiveness and your pet's safety. Here are some important points to keep in mind when administering OSURNIA: 1. **Dosage**: Follow your veterinarian's instructions regarding the correct dosage of OSURNIA for your pet. Do not exceed the recommended dosage, as this can lead to potential side effects or complications. 2. **Application**: Before applying OSURNIA, gently clean your pet's ear canal to remove any debris or discharge. Administer the prescribed amount of gel directly into the ear canal as instructed by your veterinarian. Massage the base of the ear gently to help distribute the gel. 3. **Frequency**: Administer OSURNIA as directed by your veterinarian. It is important to complete the full course of treatment, even if your pet's symptoms improve before the treatment is finished. Stopping treatment prematurely can lead to incomplete resolution of the infection. 4. **Monitoring**: Keep an eye on your pet after administering OSURNIA for any signs of allergic reactions, irritation, or discomfort. If you notice any unusual symptoms or your pet's condition worsens, contact your veterinarian immediately. 5. **Storage**: Store OSURNIA as per the manufacturer's instructions, typically at room temperature and away from direct sunlight or moisture. Keep the medication out of reach of children and pets. 6. **Follow-up**: Schedule a follow-up appointment with your veterinarian to assess your pet's response to treatment and determine if any additional steps are needed for complete resolution of the ear infection. By following these guidelines and working closely with your veterinarian, you can ensure that OSURNIA is administered safely and effectively to help your pet recover from ear infections.

Important information to know when ordering prescription medicines

A prescription is required from your veterinarian before we can supply this product.
