Lactose, calcium carbonate, dietary fibre (as chitosan).
Actions:
Calcium and dietary fibre supplement for cats and dogs. Complementary supplement; binds and reduces phosphate absorption; may be useful for chronic renal insufficiency.
Indications:
Calcium and dietary fibre supplement complementary to the management of renal failure in cats and dogs. Acts as a phosphate binder. When fed at meal times it reduces phosphate absorption from the diet, and phosphataemia. When fed to cats with chronic renal failure, it reduced both phosphataemia and uraemia; the reductions were significant (P < 0.05).
Dosage and Administration:
For use in cats and dogs. Mix 1 g/5 kg bodyweight twice daily by mixing with morning and evening meals. One level dosing spoon contains Ipakitine 1 g. Administer only as recommended by a veterinarian. Allow free access to water at all times. Continuous administration may be required.
