What is Epibrom?

Epibrom is a medication that contains the active ingredient bromhexine hydrochloride. It is commonly used in veterinary medicine to help animals with respiratory conditions such as coughing, bronchitis, and other respiratory tract infections. Epibrom works by helping to break down and clear mucus from the airways, making it easier for the animal to breathe and reducing coughing. Animals may need Epibrom if they are suffering from respiratory issues that involve excessive mucus production and difficulty breathing. It can be particularly helpful for pets with conditions such as kennel cough, bronchitis, or pneumonia. Epibrom can help to alleviate symptoms and improve the animal's overall respiratory health.

What problems could my pet have with Epibrom?

While Epibrom is generally safe and effective for treating respiratory conditions in animals, there are some potential side effects and considerations to keep in mind: 1. **Allergic reactions:** Some animals may be allergic to bromhexine hydrochloride, the active ingredient in Epibrom. Signs of an allergic reaction may include itching, hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing. If you notice any of these symptoms, discontinue use and contact your veterinarian immediately. 2. **Gastrointestinal upset:** In some cases, Epibrom may cause mild gastrointestinal upset such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. If your pet experiences persistent or severe gastrointestinal symptoms, consult your veterinarian. 3. **Drug interactions:** It's important to inform your veterinarian about any other medications or supplements your pet is taking, as Epibrom may interact with certain drugs. Your veterinarian can advise on the appropriate dosing and potential interactions. 4. **Overdose:** Administering too much Epibrom can lead to overdose symptoms such as excessive salivation, tremors, or difficulty breathing. Always follow your veterinarian's dosage instructions carefully. 5. **Pre-existing conditions:** Pets with certain medical conditions such as liver or kidney disease may require special monitoring or dosage adjustments when using Epibrom. Consult your veterinarian for guidance on the appropriate treatment plan for your pet. If you have any concerns or notice any unusual symptoms in your pet while using Epibrom, it's important to seek veterinary advice promptly. Your veterinarian can provide personalized recommendations and ensure the safety and well-being of your pet.

Is there anything I need to know about administering Epibrom?

When administering Epibrom to your pet, it's important to follow your veterinarian's instructions carefully to ensure the medication is given correctly and safely. Here are some key points to keep in mind when administering Epibrom: 1. **Dosage:** Administer the prescribed dosage of Epibrom as directed by your veterinarian. Do not exceed the recommended dose unless specifically instructed to do so by your vet. 2. **Administration:** Epibrom is typically available in liquid form for easy administration. Use a syringe or dropper to measure the correct amount of medication and administer it directly into your pet's mouth. You can also mix the liquid medication with a small amount of food to make it more palatable for your pet. 3. **Consistency:** Administer Epibrom at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of the medication in your pet's system. This can help optimize the effectiveness of the treatment. 4. **Monitoring:** Keep a close eye on your pet while they are taking Epibrom. Monitor for any changes in their condition, behavior, or appetite, and report any concerns to your veterinarian promptly. 5. **Storage:** Store Epibrom in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and pets. Follow any specific storage instructions provided by the manufacturer. 6. **Completion of Treatment:** Complete the full course of Epibrom as prescribed by your veterinarian, even if your pet's symptoms improve before the medication is finished. Stopping the medication prematurely can lead to a recurrence of the respiratory condition. 7. **Consultation:** If you have any questions or concerns about administering Epibrom to your pet, do not hesitate to contact your veterinarian for guidance and clarification. By following these guidelines and working closely with your veterinarian, you can ensure that your pet receives the appropriate care and treatment with Epibrom for their respiratory condition.

Important information to know when ordering prescription medicines

A prescription is required from your veterinarian before we can supply this product.

If this is a new prescription, to enable immediate dispensing, please ask the vet to send a copy of the prescription to us prior to mailing it.

If the original prescription is in your possession, then please upload this to your pet's profile in VetRx prior to mailing it.

How Much Does Shipping Cost?

Small orders (less than 500g) cost $9.90 to be delivered anywhere in Australia. For larger orders, shipping costs are calculated on distance and weight (leaving Sydney) and an exact price can be obtained in the shopping cart prior to checkout.

Pet Pharmacy Australia applies a shipping discount on orders over $150. A discount of $9.90 is automatically applied during checkout. Additional shipping costs for bulky goods or priority delivery are paid by the customer.

The weight limit for Australia Post is 22kg and orders that weigh more than this cannot be shipped. We recommend placing multiple smaller orders to work around this problem.
