  • Cylap vaccine is an adjuvanted vaccine containing inactivated viral haemorrhagic disease (VHD) virus.

Recommendations for Use

  • For active immunisation to prevent clinical signs and mortality caused by rabbit viral haemorrhagic disease.

Advantages

  • Inactivation of the vaccine assures no replication of vaccine virus.
  • No deleterious effects on the foetus, does not cause abortion, or have any impact on weaning.

Product Performance

  • One dose initial vaccination required because vaccine virus is highly immunogenic.
  • Twelve months duration of immunity.
  • Annual booster vaccination needed for breeding rabbits and pets to maintain immunity.

Clinical Use

  • 1 mL initial vaccination dose by subcutaneous route.
  • Rabbits should be vaccinated at 10-12 weeks of age.
  • If epizootic conditions make vaccination advisable before the age of ten weeks then animals should be re-vaccinated one month after the first innoculation or when they reach the age of 10-12 weeks, whichever occurs first.
  • An annual booster vaccination is recommended.

 Presentation

  • 10 mL vial containing 10 doses.

*Please note: vaccines do not come with syringes.

Precautions To be used by, or under the direction of a registered veterinary surgeon. Rabbits in good health should be immunised when they are least likely to be environmentally stressed by extremes of temperature or humidity. A small number of animals in any population may fail to respond to vaccination as a result of immunological incompetence or for some other reason. Some breeds of European rabbits, particularly dwarf rabbits, may respond differently to vaccination, possibly due to their specific genetic profile.Take care to avoid accidental self-injection. This product contains mineral oil. In the event of self-injection, seek prompt medical attention and take the package leaflet or carton with you. Accidental self-injection may result in local bruising, severe pain and swelling, particularly if injected into a joint or finger, and in rare cases, could result in the loss of the affected finger if prompt medical attention is not given. If pain persists for more than 12 hours after medical examination, seek medical advice. Ancillary advice for the doctor. This product contains mineral oil. Even if small amounts of this product have been accidentally self-injected, it can cause intense swelling and a persistent granulomatous inflammatory reaction. If injected into a finger or tendon sheath, the product may track along the tendon. The swelling and inflammation may compromise blood supply and result in necrosis that, in rare cases, may lead to the loss of a digit. Following appropriate immediate local cleansing, corticosteroids may be considered to decrease the severity of any local reaction. Ascertain the patient's tetanus immunisation status, and provide a booster vaccination or a primary vaccination series, as appropriate. In some cases of accidental self-injection, prompt surgical attention may be required. The wound should be incised and irrigated to remove the vaccine, especially where there is involvement of finger pulp or tendon. Complete curettage or total excision of the lesion may be required for chronic granulomatous reactions. Meticulous technique is required to stop inadvertent spread of the product.First Aid Self-injection. If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126. This material may cause a mild allergic reaction in sensitive individuals on skin contact. If skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush skin with running water. If splashed in eyes, wash out immediately with water. Additional information is provided in the Material Safety Data Sheet.Disposal Dispose of empty vials and outer packaging by wrapping with paper and putting in garbage.
