What is Aurizon?

Aurizon is a veterinary medication used to treat ear infections in dogs caused by certain types of bacteria and yeast. It contains active ingredients such as marbofloxacin, clotrimazole, and dexamethasone, which work together to combat the infection, reduce inflammation, and relieve discomfort in the affected ear. Animals may need Aurizon if they are suffering from symptoms of an ear infection, such as redness, swelling, discharge, odor, or excessive scratching at the ears. It is important to consult with a veterinarian before using Aurizon to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment of the ear infection.

What problems could my pet have with Aurizon?

While Aurizon is generally considered safe and effective when used as directed by a veterinarian, there are some potential issues or side effects that pet owners should be aware of: 1. **Allergic reactions:** Some pets may be allergic to one or more of the active ingredients in Aurizon, leading to symptoms such as itching, redness, swelling, or hives. If your pet shows any signs of an allergic reaction after using Aurizon, discontinue use and contact your veterinarian immediately. 2. **Overuse or misuse:** Using Aurizon inappropriately, such as applying it to the wrong area or using it for too long, can lead to adverse effects. Always follow your veterinarian's instructions carefully when administering Aurizon to your pet. 3. **Drug interactions:** If your pet is taking other medications or has underlying health conditions, there is a possibility of drug interactions with Aurizon. Make sure to inform your veterinarian about all medications and supplements your pet is currently taking before starting Aurizon treatment. 4. **Resistance:** Overuse or misuse of antibiotics like marbofloxacin in Aurizon can contribute to antibiotic resistance in bacteria, making future infections harder to treat. It is important to use Aurizon only as prescribed by your veterinarian and to complete the full course of treatment. 5. **Adverse effects:** While uncommon, some pets may experience side effects such as increased thirst, urination, or appetite, as well as gastrointestinal upset (vomiting or diarrhea) when using Aurizon. If you notice any unusual symptoms in your pet while using Aurizon, contact your veterinarian for guidance. Always consult with your veterinarian if you have any concerns about using Aurizon for your pet's ear infection, and closely monitor your pet for any signs of adverse reactions during treatment.

Is there anything I need to know about administering Aurizon?

When administering Aurizon to your pet, it is important to follow your veterinarian's instructions carefully to ensure the medication is used effectively and safely. Here are some key points to keep in mind when administering Aurizon: 1. **Dosage:** Administer the prescribed amount of Aurizon as directed by your veterinarian. Do not exceed the recommended dosage, as this can lead to potential side effects or complications. 2. **Application:** Aurizon is typically applied directly into the affected ear canal. Gently clean the ear and remove any debris or discharge before administering the medication. Follow the specific instructions provided by your veterinarian for proper application. 3. **Frequency:** Administer Aurizon according to the schedule recommended by your veterinarian. Typically, the medication is applied once or twice daily for a specified duration. Do not skip doses or stop treatment prematurely, even if your pet's symptoms improve. 4. **Monitoring:** Keep a close eye on your pet during the treatment period. Monitor for any changes in your pet's condition, such as improvement in symptoms or the development of any adverse reactions. Report any concerns to your veterinarian promptly. 5. **Storage:** Store Aurizon as per the instructions on the packaging. Keep the medication out of reach of children and pets, and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. 6. **Follow-up:** After completing the prescribed course of Aurizon, follow up with your veterinarian for a reevaluation of your pet's condition. Your veterinarian may recommend additional steps or medications based on the response to treatment. By following these guidelines and working closely with your veterinarian, you can help ensure that Aurizon is administered safely and effectively to treat your pet's ear infection.

Important information to know when ordering prescription medicines

A prescription is required from your veterinarian before we can supply this product.

If this is a new prescription, to enable immediate dispensing, please ask the vet to send a copy of the prescription to us prior to mailing it.

If the original prescription is in your possession, then please upload this to your pet's profile in VetRx prior to mailing it.

Please note that we must receive either a copy of the prescription from the vet, or the original prescription before we can dispatch your order. This does unfortunately add to the order processing time, however this is a requirement placed upon all pharmacies by the Health Regulators.

How Much Does Shipping Cost?

Small orders (less than 500g) cost $9.90 to be delivered anywhere in Australia. For larger orders, shipping costs are calculated on distance and weight (leaving Sydney) and an exact price can be obtained in the shopping cart prior to checkout.

Pet Pharmacy Australia applies a shipping discount on orders over $150. A discount of $9.90 is automatically applied during checkout. Additional shipping costs for bulky goods or priority delivery are paid by the customer.

The weight limit for Australia Post is 22kg and orders that weigh more than this cannot be shipped. We recommend placing multiple smaller orders to work around this problem.
